VITA Certification Event

Join us on Tuesday, April 29th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Room TH205 for a special evening recognizing our VITA volunteer tax preparers as they receive their certifications. This event will also offer valuable information on how to become a preparer through the VITA program. Students will have the opportunity to gain insights into the program and network with current volunteers. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided. We look forward to seeing you!

VITA Interest Meeting (2022)

Tax season is around the corner! Join us this Friday, November 18th to learn more about our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program! VITA offers free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their tax returns who do not have the resources to do so. It is a great way to give back to the community and gain valuable experience! If you have already applied, this meeting is mandatory to become part of the program. Our vice presidents will be going over the certification process, training, and the structure of the program. Currently we are still looking for more officers, so please apply if you are interested. MS in Accounting (Fall 2022)

Looking for a way to reach 150 credits? Hunter College offers a Master’s Program in Accounting that would be a great way to fulfill that requirement for those pursuing the CPA! We will be joined by Professor Christine Tan, faculty and advisor of the program, to go over the application process and what the program’s curriculum has to offer. This event will take place on November 10th at 7:00 - 9:00 PM on Zoom. Please come prepared with any questions you have for Professor Tan as there will be a Q&A segment at the end of the presentation!

Deloitte (Fall 2022)

The Accounting Society of Hunter College is pleased to virtually host Deloitte! Join us on Wednesday, October 19th from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Zoom, where representatives from Deloitte will share valuable insight into the firm, possible ways to be recruited for employment and internships, and tips and tricks for becoming an ideal candidate.

Deloitte is a prestigious public accounting firm that provides a wide variety of services, including Audit and Assurance, Tax, Consulting, Forensic Accounting, and Cyber Security. Deloitte serves many industries, including, but not limited to, banking and capital markets, private companies, retail, and consumer products, private equity, and real estate.

We are honored to have Charlotte Randall, a campus recruiter, speak about internship and employment opportunities and what is expected of candidates. You will have the chance to gain insight into how to become a competitive candidate during the application and interview process, as well as a competitive candidate for employment once hired as an intern at Deloitte. The firm also participates in Hunter’s Gateway to Professional Accounting Success (GPAS) program! Keep an eye out for an informational session on Hunter’s GPAS program during the Spring of 2023.
